What is Vaginal thrush?

Vaginal thrush is a common fungal infection caused by an overgrowth of yeast that naturally lives in the vagina. It causes itching, soreness, and a thick, white discharge, often described as resembling cottage cheese, along with discomfort during sex or urination.

It's not classed as a sexually transmitted infection, though it can occasionally be triggered by sexual activity. Common triggers include antibiotics, pregnancy, diabetes, and tight or non-breathable clothing.
