Who We Are
An organisation built around the belief that better health begins with better knowledge.
BarnMD was founded in 2017 with a simple conviction: people and communities are better positioned to protect their health when reliable health information is understandable, accessible, and connected to practical prevention. From the beginning, our work has sought to bring health knowledge closer to people while supporting community-focused initiatives.
In 2018, BarnMD carried out its first community outreach activities. These early efforts helped establish an approach centred on health education, preventive awareness, community engagement, and practical support. In 2019, Barn Medical Doctors Mission was formally registered as an Incorporated Trustee with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria.
Over time, the organisation has continued to develop its programmes and methods of engagement. Our work has included public-health education, community outreach, maternal, newborn and child health activities, mental health and wellness initiatives, and other prevention-focused programmes.
BarnMD has also expanded the way it makes health knowledge available. Today, BarnMD Health Intelligence brings together more than 507 health articles and resources, alongside 26 Health Tools designed to help people explore health information, understand common health measures, and support informed preventive decision-making. These resources complement, rather than replace, professional medical care.
Our digital work is part of a broader commitment to use technology responsibly in support of public health. BarnOS™ represents our developing digital health technology framework, intended to support future healthcare infrastructure, workflows, measurement, and digital transformation while keeping responsible practice at the centre.
