What is Round Ligament Pain in Pregnancy?

Round ligament pain is a sharp, brief pain or dull ache felt in the lower belly or groin, usually on one or both sides, caused by the stretching of the ligaments that support the uterus as it grows. It's most common in the second trimester and often triggered by sudden movements, like standing up quickly, coughing, or rolling over in bed.

While it can be startling, especially the first time, it's a normal part of pregnancy and not a sign that anything is wrong.
