What is Pins and needles?

Pins and needles is a tingling or prickling sensation, often described as feeling like the affected area has 'gone to sleep'. It commonly happens when a nerve is temporarily compressed, such as sitting cross-legged or leaning on an arm for too long.

It usually resolves quickly once pressure is relieved and blood flow returns to normal. Persistent, recurring, or widespread pins and needles can sometimes indicate nerve compression, diabetes, vitamin deficiencies, or other underlying conditions.
