What is Peak flow test?

A peak flow test measures how fast you can breathe air out of your lungs, giving a simple indication of how open your airways are. It's most commonly used to help monitor and manage conditions like asthma and COPD.

The test involves taking a deep breath and blowing out as hard and fast as possible into a small handheld device called a peak flow meter. Regular readings, tracked over time, help identify patterns and early signs of worsening symptoms.
