What is Pain in the top of the foot?

Pain on the top of the foot can result from tendon inflammation, minor stress fractures, tight or ill-fitting shoes, or nerve compression from swelling or tight laces. It's often linked to overuse from increased activity or repetitive impact, such as running.

The pain can range from a dull ache to a sharp, localised pain that's worse with movement, and sometimes comes with mild swelling over the affected area.
