What is Mpox?

Mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) is a viral infection that causes a distinctive rash along with fever, chills, and swollen lymph nodes. It spreads through close physical contact with an infected person, their rash or scabs, contaminated clothing or bedding, or respiratory droplets during prolonged face-to-face contact.

Most people recover within two to four weeks with rest and supportive care at home. The rash typically goes through several stages, starting as flat spots that develop into raised, fluid-filled blisters before scabbing over and healing.
