What is Head Injury and Concussion?

A head injury can range from a minor bump causing no lasting effects, to a concussion (a temporary disturbance in brain function), to more serious traumatic brain injury. Concussion symptoms can include headache, dizziness, confusion, nausea, and sensitivity to light, and don't always appear immediately after the injury.

Most concussions resolve within one to two weeks with appropriate rest and a gradual return to normal activities, though it's important to seek assessment after any significant head injury and follow medical guidance on returning to activities like work, school, or sport.
