What is Farting (Flatulence)?

Flatulence, or passing wind, is a normal bodily function caused by gas produced during digestion, particularly from the breakdown of certain foods by gut bacteria. Everyone passes gas regularly, and the amount can vary based on diet, particularly with foods like beans, certain vegetables, and fizzy drinks.

While normal, excessive or particularly uncomfortable flatulence can sometimes relate to specific foods, food intolerances, or digestive conditions, and adjusting diet or seeking assessment can help if it's bothersome.
