What is Dizziness and Fainting in Pregnancy?

Dizziness and lightheadedness are common in pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester as blood vessels widen and blood pressure drops slightly, and again later on as the growing uterus can press on blood vessels when lying flat on your back. Low blood sugar, dehydration, and standing up too quickly can also contribute.

Occasional dizziness is usually harmless, but fainting, or dizziness combined with other symptoms, is worth discussing with your maternity team.
