What is Dizziness?

Dizziness is a common symptom with many possible causes, ranging from relatively minor issues like dehydration or standing up too quickly, to inner ear problems affecting balance, to, less commonly, heart or neurological conditions. It can feel like lightheadedness, a spinning sensation (vertigo), or unsteadiness.

Most dizziness is not serious and improves with simple measures or resolves on its own, but understanding the specific pattern — what triggers it, how long it lasts, and any accompanying symptoms — helps identify when further assessment is needed.
