What is Delayed Periods?

A delayed or missed period can have many causes, the most common being pregnancy, stress, significant weight changes, excessive exercise, or hormonal fluctuations, particularly around puberty or perimenopause. Certain medical conditions, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or thyroid problems, can also affect the regularity of periods.

An occasional late or missed period, especially with an identifiable cause like stress or illness, usually isn't a concern, but persistent irregularity is worth discussing with a doctor to identify any underlying cause.
