What is Catarrh?

Catarrh refers to a build-up of mucus in the nose, throat, or sinuses, often causing a blocked or runny nose, a feeling of mucus dripping down the back of the throat, and sometimes a cough. It's commonly caused by colds, allergies, or sinus irritation, and usually resolves on its own within a few weeks.

While uncomfortable and sometimes persistent, catarrh usually isn't a sign of anything serious, though ongoing symptoms are worth mentioning to a doctor if they don't settle or are significantly affecting quality of life.
