What is Breast Screening - BreastCheck?

BreastCheck is Ireland's national breast cancer screening programme, offering free mammograms every two years to eligible women, aimed at detecting breast cancer early, often before it can be felt or causes any symptoms. Finding cancer at this early stage significantly improves treatment options and outcomes.

The screening involves a mammogram, a low-dose X-ray of the breast, performed at a dedicated screening unit. Most results are normal, and if anything unusual is found, you'll be invited for further assessment to investigate further.
