What is Binge Eating Disorder (BED)?

Binge eating disorder involves regularly eating large amounts of food in a short period, often with a sense of loss of control, followed by feelings of guilt, shame, or distress. Unlike bulimia, it doesn't typically involve compensatory behaviours like vomiting or excessive exercise, but the emotional impact can be significant.

It's one of the most common eating disorders and affects people of all body sizes. It's a recognised, treatable condition, and effective support — including specific talking therapies — is available.
