What is Asthma in Babies and Children?

Asthma is a common condition in childhood that causes the airways to become inflamed and narrowed, leading to wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and breathlessness. Symptoms can be triggered by colds and other viral infections, allergens like dust or pet hair, cold air, exercise, or smoke.

While asthma can't be cured, it's usually well controlled with the right combination of preventer and reliever inhalers, along with identifying and managing individual triggers where possible.
